Description

Start the Best of Kushiro Tour with a 45 min scenic drive to visit Ainu Kotan (Akan Ainu Village) where you will experience an Ainu Traditional Dance performance. Ainu dance encompasses distinctive features deeply rooted in Ainu culture.

Next, load back up and head to the Kushiro Crane Nature Park to see tancho cranes, one of the world’s rarest bird species. In 1970 it became the first location in the world to successfully breed tancho cranes. Here, around ten of tancho cranes, which are designated as a special natural monument of Japan, are raised permanently in an environment as close to nature as possible.

After visiting the Crane Nature Park, enjoy a stroll around Akan Lake and then head to the observation deck in the Kushiro Marshlands to take in more of the natural beauty on display in Hokkaido!
